Jakarta Sets Up Cemetery for Additional COVID-19 Graves at Rorotan TPU

Jakarta Provincial Government continues to make various efforts in handling the COVID-19 outbreak. One of them is by preparing TPU areas to accommodate new burials with the COVID-19 protocol. To ensure the preparation process, Jakarta Vice Governor Ahmad Riza Patria, immediately monitored the Rorotan Cemetery (TPU), North Jakarta, on Wednesday (1/27).

The cure rate also increased at 89.2 percent

"Indeed in recent weeks, there has been an increase in active cases. Yet death rate continues to decline at 1.6%. However, we continuously prepare burial ground. Today I visit the Rorotan TPU, where we have 25 hectares of land for burials. InsyaAllah, around 8,000 meters are ready next week with a capacity of 1,500 grave plots. And now it is being prepared, including road access to the burial place," he explained, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

In the meantime, there were several other new cemetery areas with a total capacity of 17,900 plots. They were under preparation stage, to accommodate new burials for COVID victims. Here is the following new burial grounds:

Bambu Apus TPU Used as Burial Ground for COVID-19 Victims

1. Bambu Apus 2 TPU (Bambu Wulung, East Jakarta), Land area: 5 hectares, use area: 3,000 square meters, capacity: 800 plots.

2. Srengseng Sawah 2 TPU (South Jakarta). Land area: 3.4 hectares, use area: 3,000 square meters, capacity: 1,900 plots.

3. Tegal Alur TPU (Jalan Sahabat, West Jakarta). Land area: 1.3 hectares, use area: 5,000 square meters, capacity: 800 plots.

4. Rorotan TPU (North Jakarta). Land area: 25 hectares, use area: 8,000 square meters, capacity: 1,500 plots.

5. RTH at Jalan Kramat Tiga (Lubang Buaya, East Jakarta). Land area: 5 hectares, use area: 3,000 square meters, capacity: 800 plots.

6. RTH at Jalan Raya Pondok Gede/Dukuh II (Kramat Jati, East Jakarta). Land area: 2,1 hectares and capacity: 3,900 plots.

He hoped that the death rate can continue to decline, and the disease could be controlled and handled properly.

"So let's continue to carry out the COVID-19 protocol properly. Don't forget to bring a hand sanitizer, exercise, sunbathe, then eat nutritionally, consume herbs, and so forth," he explained.

He added that the COVID-19 handling in Jakarta had been done well, and various efforts were made already. It was indicated by the continuing increase in the cure rate.

"The cure rate also increased at 89.2 percent. Surely this is supported by the important role of hospitals, health workers and the community during PSBB period. So please be more disciplined. We continue to strive together to ensure the health of ourselves, our families and the whole community. Hopefully Jakarta will soon be free from the COVID-19," he stated.
